About The Program
The National Theatre of the Deaf (NTD) Theatre Immersion Program (TIP) is designed to enhance the theater skills of Deaf and hard of hearing high school students. Due to the coronavirus crisis, TIP will be hosted as an online program over a month and a half via an online classroom with video meetings.
Expert Deaf theatre professionals will provide lessons on the following areas: comedic acting, dramatic acting, ASL songs, dance, improvisation, ASL translation, auditioning, marketing yourself, playwriting, technical theatre, make-up and more. During the program, students participate in impromptu performances and create ASL stories.
The NTD Theater Immersion Program is supported by the the Beatrice Fox Auerbach Fund at the Hartford Foundation and the State of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development Office of the Arts.
Space at TIP is limited and invitees will be selected from among a pool of applicants of diverse strengths and backgrounds.
